We have agreed to report to parents every term and to hold a meeting so that teacher and parents can talk about children’s progress. We have said that we will endeavour to keep parents/guardians fully informed at all times about children’s progress and how parents can help maintain or improve on that progress.
Term 1 produce a written report, hold a parent teacher conference
Term 2 the children will present a portfolio of their work, we will also hold a parent teacher conference
Term 3 produce a written report, hold a parent teacher conference
We have also agreed that students in Year 5 and aboveshould be invited to attend the conference as they should be taking more responsibility for their learning.
Reports will focus on learning rather than the work covered, but there will be a summary of work covered. We will report on progress towards the International Goals and the Personal Goals. Any areas of particular concern should be brought to the attention of parents as and when they happen. We do invite parents to give us feedback on our reporting system.
Children are assessed by their teachers in all areas of the curriculum using a variety of formal and informal methods. Feedback is given to parents through discussions and written reports.
The formal tests we are are:
Term 1: NFER English, NFER Mathematics, Hodder Reading Comprehension
Term 2: ACER English and Mathematics
Term 3: NFER English, NFER Mathematics, Hodder Reading Comprehension
Dutch students also complete the CITO tests.
The school does not teach religious education. Reference to ideas and events associated with religions may be included as part of the IPC, for example, in relation particularly to the subjects of History and Society . A similar approach is taken with politics.
We like to think of discipline in terms of self-discipline. In order to foster this, we help to provide our students with a safe, reliable, happy and consistent background against which he or she may achieve success. Our rules are simple and positive and we always stress the good or safe way to behave.
In the rare situations where a student behaves in a way that I not acceptable, we try to find out why through talking with the student and the parents, as required. We do not expect the behavior of any child to interfere with the learning of other children and should this be the case, we will take the necessary steps to correct this.

If your child is absent from school for any reason, please inform the Class Teacher or call the school office. This should be done before the event in the case of a planned absence (e.g. holiday / visit to the dentist). For sickness, or other unplanned absences, please send an explanatory letter when your child returns to school.
Where a parent needs to take a student out of school for an extended period of time, permission should be sought in writing from the Head Teacher in advance.
Minimum attendance is set at 90% of the enrolled school days. This does not include extenuating health concerns or a family emergency. It is possible that a student who is absent for 18 days or more will not receive grades on his/her report card or be asked to repeat their current grade. Should a student reach the 10% of the school days, a letter is sent home as a reminder of the attendance policy.
After an absence, the student must submit a note to the classroom teacher.
We operate a NO HAT - NO PLAY policy. Make sure that your child brings their hat to school otherwise they will not be allowed onto the field to play.
During the summer months when the weather gets very hot, play time outside is reduced to 15 minutes and children eat indoors. If we feel it is too hot to go outside, breaktime is held in classrooms, always fully supervised by members of the teaching staff.
Early Years / Milepost 1: all classes will eat inside with their class teacher for 15 minutes and then play outside for 30 minutes with 4 members of staff.
Milepost 2 and 3: classes will eat outside for 10 minutes and play for 20. There will be 3 members of staff on duty.
Children are expected to sit at tables to eat.
