Re: School Closure update
The Supreme Education Council (SEC) hosted a meeting yesterday for private schools in Doha. SEC officials reiterated the precautions that schools need to take to guard against the spread of H1N1 infection and to make the school as safe and as health an environment as possible. We have followed the SEC advice and put a full range of preventative measures in place.
It was confirmed at the meeting that schools will be opening on Sunday 04 October 2009. There are many rumours circulating about additional delays, but the information we have received from the SEC is that school will reopen next week.
On the issue of vaccinations, the following information was presented:
- Consent forms will be issued for children to receive seasonal flu vaccinations. The consent form will be posted on our website and also sent home next week. The consent forms need to be returned by 05 October.
- Children will not be vaccinated without the consent of parents.
- The SEC has no plans to vaccinate adults in school at this stage.
- The H1N1 vaccination is still not available.

The SEC will make arrangements for a specialist team to vaccinate children at CISD. If you wish to have your child vaccinated, then you will need to sign and return the consent form and be present at the actual vaccination. If you do not wish to have your child vaccinated, please complete the form appropriately and return it to school by 05 October 2009.
